Foo Camp

August 28th, 2006 by EyeOnWiner

Dave is doing his usual whining about a conference he didn’t get invited to.

Of course, Dave creates distinctions where there are none… namely, he asserts that there’s a difference between a conference that is invite only (and has finite space) and one that is open invite but has finite space.

It doesn’t really change anything, even though he wishes it did. Is Blogger Con really any more open than Foo Camp? Is that still the case when you consider the goals of the two conferences?

Is Dave just bitter because he didn’t get asked to geek homecoming?

winer is used to throwing a different kind of conference: open invite, infinite space. SInce nobody wants to go to winer’s conferences, most of the seats are empty and for all practical purpose, there is infinite space (i.e. there is space for anyone who wants to show up, that is, nobody). winer’s just bitter because O’Reilly’s shows are successful and his are not.
