Never one to skimp on melodrama, Dave has decided to get rid of ‘evil’ feeds. What makes a feed ‘evil’?
Well, ladies and gents, all it takes for a feed to be ‘evil’ is putting images in it. Dave whines about FeedFlare, a little strip of images put in the feed by FeedBurner to allow for some interactivity. The only thing feedburner gets back from the user is an HTTP request. Oddly, the same thing Dave’s servers get back when he puts an image in one of his posts… so does that make his feeds evil, too?
I think it does… so if you’re in Dave’s boat on this one, I’d advise unsubscribing from his feed. That’s what he’d do!
… or what Dave is doing is just promoting the stratagey to get better tracking of readership. Some times, especially with Winer, things are not what they iniitially appear.
Ooh some Dvorak-esque Daverisms?
Nah, Dave is just paranoid and thinks people care to mine HTTP server logs for…erm…knowing who reads what. My word, isn’t it all so 1984?
Next thing on the radar: feeds that have titles AND descriptions. Phew, that’ll be freaktastic and very evvvilll because then people won’t have to read big long bolded text all day long damn them!!
