More Double Standards

July 7th, 2006 by EyeOnWiner

It just never ends. Dave smears Scott Johnson, who suggests that the PodShow copyright snafu was likely just a mistake or oversight. Shortly later Scott posts confirmation that this is the case. It’s amazing how quick Dave is to ascribe malice to a situaiton… yet he was very irritated when everyone assumed malice when he pulled the plug on thousands of blogs.

Let’s face it, folks, coding mistakes are easy to make and unless you know what their codebase looks like or how they’re doing different things you have no idea how likely or unlikely this is. But it’s much easier to get up in arms.

Let’s look at the number of issues that this post creates for Dave:

  1. He calls out Scott for being a former PodShow consultant with the implication that his opinion is biased, but neglects to disclose that PodShow is hosted by Adam Curry… giving him his own little source of bias.
  2. Just as he did with the Amanda/Rocketboom situation, he neglects to post an update and retraction when it turns out that he’s wrong.
  3. If the tables were reversed, he’d play the victim card and whine about how everyone is flaming him.
  4. He didn’t hunt down the truth or ask PodShow ahead of time — a courtesy he has often demanded for himself.

…not as though we need any more examples of Mr. Winer’s vast hypocrisy…
