Honestly.

Goodness, Dave, you told clients that you wanted to permanently move a URL to a new location. You didn’t. Now you want it to know, somehow, that you meant 307 when you said 301.

This is unfortunate, yes, but a relatively natural and foreseeable consequence of using a permanent redirect.
