I don’t know much about Robert David Steele Vivas I do know that his background makes it a near certainty that he is not an idiot. More likely, Dave just disagrees with his politics, and (as we’ve discussed before) Dave is somewhat known for his ability to simply ruin political discourse.
What boggles my mind is how people can find fault with libertarian (note the lower-case) ideas to the point that they’d call them “nutty.” In today’s world, I’d think we’d be MORE interested in freedoms, rights, and liberties… not less.
You’d think that someone who spends a good portion of his life expounding on the evils of large organizations exerting control over anything would have a particular interest in maintaining freedoms.
More and more I’m convinced that Dave simply has no principles. His entire world view boils down to his initial emotional response to something. That’s how he can go on and on about Global Warming post Katrina and then turn around a buy a car that gets 16 miles to the gallon (city). His arrogance has just crossed the threshold where he believes the first thought that enters his head is unquestionably correct and so there is no point to subjecting his ideas to even a basic analysis.
