Can't decide whether this merits its own post or not, but, for crying out loud, the hits of "perpetrating whatever he claims to be the victim of" just keep coming.

Latest example:

"His MO is obvious, he picks Internet fights to draw attention to himself."

Dave Winer, talking about Jason -- http://www.scripting.com/stories/2007/08/22/critiqueOfGnomedexDay2.html

Frankly, I'm jealous of Dave. He has this uncanny, spot-on ability to put words to completely galling behavior -- in HIMSELF. He just happens to project it onto other people. As an EOW contributor I wish I had half the talent for describing Dave's personality flaws that Dave would have if he'd turn it inward. ;-)

> It dovetails with several other log era meltdowns in civility

Those would make good wiki pages, no?

For nostalgic fun google "Winer Number".

Mine is 1.

Karma never forgets being abused. Like most people I'm more complex than any boolean distinction (friend/enemy). Seeing the world in bits with a one bit register is a recipe for loneliness. Bits need to toggle.

I think that the whole break down with Calacanis is a result of Dave Winer spending several years trying diligently to change his "internet reputation" and then he (almost causally) tells Jason what the chat room is saying about his "pitch"...

"You're spamming us now". The originator of that "joke" is probably lost to history.

But Jason gets to his laptop and dredges up the old meme:

"I was Winered at GnomeDex".

Dave went mediaval on his ass soon after in "meat space".

So... was Jason hurt or did he play the "Blog card" to become "the story". Either way... the Winer v. Calacanis ear has begun. It dovetails with several other log era meltdowns in civility:

Winer v. Cadenhead
Winer v. Curry
Winer v. Ruby
Winer v. Pilgrim
Winer v. Powers
Winer v. O'Reilly
Winer v. Sessum
Winer v. Rageboy

.... and back through generations to Dave's early years.

A few years ago, there was a googlebomb campaign to drive up the ranking of the phrase "that asshole dave winer." It was pretty successful. Here's a typical URL:
