Mobs Are Bad… Unless Dave Is Leading Them
April 10th, 2007 by EyeOnWinerDoes anyone else find it particularly interesting that Dave is rallying against mob justice… but then trying to form his own mob to slime Russo & Hale?
I thought mob justice was bad? Of course we have the Winer Exception: something is bad unless Dave wants to do it, and then it’s justified by the circumstances.
That said, I’m not the least bit surprised by the Russo & Hale cease and desist letter. Virtually all of his posts about the firm, in my opinion, have been (at the very least) borderline libellous (I’m not licensed to practice in California, this is not legal advice) and this is not, by any stretch, the first person or group that he’s slimed.
I also find it extremely unfortunate that such a genuinely nice, caring woman like Maryam Scoble has had to see the side of Dave with which many of us are intimately familiar in addition to having to deal with all of the other crap she was subjected to. It’s possible to tell someone what they need to hear (as opposed to what they want to hear) without being an asshole about it. Then again, when given two roads, Dave usually errs on the side of being the bigger asshole.
Of course, with Dave’s victim mentality, he sees Tim O’Reilly as “the biggest bully on his block“. He must be exempting himself from that competition.
