More on Mobs

I was not aware of this, but apparently Dave is now the arbiter of respect. He tells us that Thomas Hawk has earned our repsect. Well… thanks for clearing that up.

In other news, the Flickr controversy that has Hawk “pissed” is a little less outrageous than the slew of people makes it sound. The posts that were deleted were inciting people to send death threats. God forbid Yahoo not want its service to be used as a hub for harassment.

The more interesting point here, to me, is that this is… TA-DA… mob justice. That Dave dislikes so much. But he’s not chastizing, or trying to defend the other side (as he said was important). There are actually two mobs here. The mob that was rallying against the photo thieves and now the mob that is rallying against Flickr. Dave doesn’t see fit to take up for either of them.

Really, in the end, Dave only hates mobs when he’s on the other side of them. He doesn’t have the class or integrity to follow his own advice when it doesn’t suit him.
