Dave on Race

March 18th, 2008 by EyeOnWiner

I can’t say that I agree with everything he wrote (do I ever?), but he certainly spurred a tremendously interesting discussion yesterday.

Among the things I disagree with: there’s a difference between prejudice and racism. Everyone has prejudices, not everyone is racist. Racism requires the belief that one person’s race is superior to another’s. Additionally: “everyone’s racist” is a bit of a cop-out.

Also, this: “I want to find people whose politics are as far from mine as possible and find the bond that connects us as Americans.” Is utter bullshit. This is a guy who blames Republicans for every misdeed in the modern world, he disparages and insults them regularly as a group, and now he says he wants to bond with them? Riiiight.

Either way, it’s all worth a read, even the comments.
