Dave Winer: Republicans Shit on My Dreams

February 14th, 2008 by Bullshit Mancuso

Dave Winer on Twitter today:

the thing that radicalized me this year was when the clintons started shitting on obama. he can take it, for sure, but… about 2 hours ago

they were shitting on other people’s dreams, the same way the republicans have been shitting on mine for YEARS. actually decades. about 2 hours ago

with Reagan they put a smiley face on it. Bush, not so much, more of a snarl. openly corrupt. who the fuck cares what you think, they say. about 2 hours ago

we got 51 percent and that’s all we need. the rest of you, fuck off. (and most of the 51 percent fuck off too.) about 2 hours ago

we have been raped. and with what the clintons were doing almost lynched. you’d think they would have apologized, but that’s the way it is. about 2 hours ago

anyway, it’s going to be a fight, but its worth a fight. i wish my uncle had lived, he never would believe what’s going on now. about 2 hours ago

More than 4,600 people are sucking down this effluent on Twitter.

What dreams of Dave Winer and his uncle Ken Kiesler have the Republicans and/or Clintons been shitting on when they weren’t busy raping or lynching them? Winer’s a rich dot-com software developer living in Berkeley. From Winer’s account, his late uncle was a hippie commune dweller who lived an indolent and happy life in Jamaica.

As much as I’d love to bash Republicans — I don’t see eye to eye with Eye on politics — I’m having a little trouble finding the persecuted victims here.

let’s see….. this server is in jacksonville, florida. you’re a liberal. you don’t like dave. wonder who it could possibly be.

  2. Jon says:

That just means where the web host is, it has nothing to do with who’s running it. In this case it appears it could be hostingmatters.com. I have servers in several states, it really means nothing at all where a server is located.

Rogers Cadenhead uses The Planet anyway, totally different part of the country.

  3. A minor nit: Dave lives in Berkeley, which I don’t think anyone counts as Silicon Valley. Even SF is a stretch, but it’s become traditional to lump it in because so many companies are there (or so many Silicon Valley workers live there).

Like I said, a minor point. shrug

We seem to have acquired our own troll — Larry King has posted here lately as Anonymous Coward, UnMcD, Bizarro McD, and McD (though not the real one).

Eye on Winer was begun in January 2005 with this post. I joined a couple months ago as a writer. I have nothing to do with the domain or the hosting.

  5. EyeOnWiner says:

It’s pretty funny that “larry king” thinks the location of the server matters.

  6. zaphodim says:

Yeah, well dave winer shit on MY dreams. I wonder how many people he’s done that to.

  7. McD says:

Just for the record: Dave Winer never did anything to me except ask me who I am. I wondered why that should really matter. Do we have to expose ourselves on the internet to share opinions? I really wish the ideas mattered more that who I am and where I work.

I comment consistently as mcd and occissionally as Gene Poole or some other pseudo-real person to get past the censor at scripting.com and participate.

I think “Fake Steve Jobs” is less interesting since Daniel Lyons was outted. I like a good non-de-plume.

I don’t want to be famous and I really don’t think I’m a troll for have strong opinions.

And… I don’t really care who “larry king” is… the essence of the person alway surfaces in the words… given enough time. My strong reactions to Dve Winer are always based upon his words and not any other factor.

  8. I don’t want to be famous and I really don’t think I’m a troll for have strong opinions.

I wasn’t calling you a troll, McD. I was referring to Larry King et al, who’s been posting falsely as McD.

  9. McD says:

Bull: I wasn’t referring to you or anyone here.

No… there’s a general meme that surfaces about any who comments anaonymously as bing a troll. I got the larry king troll reference. I think trolls are obvious and typically good at creating conversations to go off course.

I always want the conversation to progress. I tried to talk with Winer on numerous occasions and I’m content now to just talk about him.

Damn… I need to read these posts before I submit for typos.
