Dave Winer vs. Michael Arrington, Round 3
March 31st, 2008 by Bullshit MancusoLooks like Jack Michael Arrington Jr. and Dave Winer are fighting over TechMeme again. Arrington posted these comments on Twitter:
A periodic reminder that Dave Winer is just a jerk. http://snurl.com/2300s about 17 hours ago
and he wonders why i don’t respond to his emails. about 17 hours ago
A site about hot geeks, from the founder of zivity. http://sexiestgeeksalive.com/ just launched about 17 hours ago
I wonder if Dave Winer will bless it as a real blog? about 17 hours ago
It’s hilarious to see two Internet VIPS with a combined age of 90 end a friendship because of a link aggregator.

It’s more “hilarious” to see anonymous people always making the comment about how “old” people are and the BS people in general fight about.
I just see that ad hominem attack used so much I get sick of it myself. The young people too also argue about petty things.

I read that post as “old enough to know better”, not “look at those crazy old coots.”
(I’m over 40, btw)

Yeah, I’m just sick of the comments akin to that. That oft-repeated phrase is almost as bad as saying “talk to the hand” or tl;dr.

Seems asif Arrington has a bone to pick with Winer. I guess he doesn’t like that Dave said that he was trying to turn Techcrunch into CNET, but that’s not news, MA has said as much. Fight? You’re trying to hard.

You’re sick of suggestions that people should act their age, JRT?

Worded in the way that’s akin to “talk to the hand”. I usually see younger people use that to describe anybody who’s older who gets into a petty fight. Age does not mean anything in this regard, so I usually think it reflects badly on the person who uses that old cliche, rather than the people they’re talking about.
If BSM wanted to editorialize, I wish he did it in a more original way.

Yeah, you’re so right. Asking adults to act like adults is silly.
