Dave notes that Scott Rosenberg has a contract and publisher for a book about blogging. He’s billing it as “the story of blogs“. We should be unsurprised, then, that Dave has begun kissing Rosenberg’s ass, hoping that when the book comes out, it heralds Dave as the inventor of everything from blogging to hot apple pie.
Berkeley neighbor Scott Rosenberg announced yesterday that he has a contract now for a book on the story of blogging. I’ve known he wanted to work in this area for a while, now I’m glad he’s got a publisher and a contract. I have no doubts it will be a great book, and a foundation for future work.
I’m sure that if the book isn’t sufficiently congratulatory of Mr. Winer, we’ll hear about how horrible the book is, and Scott will go on Dave’s shit list.
This ought to be good.
Odds are Dave will condemn the book before it’s published.
Scott will interview Dave and he might say who he also intends to talk with and that should do it. :^)
Who would Dave NOT want Scott to talk with? Shelley Powers? Sam Ruby? Jason Calacanis? Tim O’Reilly?
Can you blame him, though? Who else would Scott need to interview besides Dave?
oh boyohboy, you nailed it.
though winer is an incredible tush kisser – albeit a bi-polar one at that – i hesitate to predict a classic dave freak-out. rosenberg has been included into the winer circle of trust as a non-threatening fan boy. then again, maybe he’ll actually attempt a hard-hitting treatment. in that case, winer will flip out at anything less than a full wet kiss
Scott Rosenberg is too much the pro to write a love letter to Dave Winer in an effort to please him. He has an exaggerated sense of Winer’s importance in the history of blogging, but hopefully that will be corrected as he researches the book. Blogging’s just a point on a continuum of personal publishing on the web. Only in Winer’s monumental ego did it come entirely from him.
